We can tell when we are operating from angry emotions. We can hear ourselves proclaim I feel angry. You are making me mad or we feel resentment internally without responding externally through our words, actions or deeds.
It activates the emotion anger when one’s feeling visually illustrate strong resentment expression which transition into physical words of resentment or frustration with body language that portray our anger.
Instead of allowing anger to control our responses, social interactions, and lifestyle choices, let us prayerfully engage in the following venting anger suggestions:
Take several deep breaths to restore a calm spirit within and control our blood pressure.
Try counting to ten or more until we feel calm.
In a non-offensive way, use words to express why we are upset.
Channel our angry energy into something positive. Take time out to pray and seek God for guidance. Go for a walk. Go take a nap. Join or engage in an exercise program.
Cry it out.
Write in our journal.
Enter a Rage Room. Where we can go in solitude and let off steam in a nondefensively, nonjudgmental, and non-harmful environment. Let us get ourselves some boxing gloves and a boxing bag and punch all of our anger away.
Whatever strategy we use, let us make sure we turn from wrath, remind ourselves that we have control over our emotions, responses and actions. Let us seek peace and not allow people, places, or things to control our choices and destroy our joy and inner peace.
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Let none unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice” (Ephesians 4: 26-31).
