We love to sing along. We shout out the words, we pat our feet to the beats, we go through the emotional mood swings when feeling and repeating certain lyrics. Our selective song choices reveal our personal right to make such selection to listen, sing, dance, and proclaim the lyrics out loud and within our spirits, souls, and bodies. We are not to deny lyrics that coincide with our moods, thoughts, actions, and lifestyles; however, we must not allow our song choices to keep us operating from a state of depression, sadness, anger, hatred, laziness, bitterness, unforgiveness, and unrealistic expectations. Bottom line, any song choices that detour us from walking, talking, and acting out God’s wellness plan for our unique lifestyles, we need to denounce the song, stop meditating and singing the lyrics. If our day started off feeling blue and singing “I found love on a two-way street and lost it on a lonely highway. True love will never die, so I’ve been told, but now I must cry It’s finally goodbye, I know” (Lyrics Love On A Two Way Street by Stacy Lattisaw), then we must choose to proclaim, internally and externally God’s Word: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8).
This is possible, BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE.
