Getting adequate rest makes a great impact on brain function. Lack of sleep can lead to memory loss and impact problem-solving at any age. Not enough sleep and the aging process have been linked with faster cognitive decline and greater risk of Alzheimer’s diseases. Sleep recommendation for adults is to get seven to eight-hour sleep. The benefits of getting proper rest are as follows:
Helps maintain physical healthcare
Helps maintain cognitive healthcare
Lessen the chance of chronic diseases-heart disease, diabetes, and stroke
Please notate as we age, our sleep patterns change, not the total amount of sleep needed. We notice more sleep interruptions, the period of deep sleep decreases, and we may make more bathroom trips. We tend to get sleepy earlier, since our internal clock changes.
