The medical and wellness organizations and industries define core stability as “the capacity of the muscles of the torso to assist in the maintenance of good posture, balance, etc., especially during movement”. This means the following muscle groups (known as the muscle box) must operate in unity and harmony: the abdominals which includes rectus abdominus, transversus abdominus, internal and external oblique; gluteal (but); hips and thighs (quadriceps, hamstring); and back. Core stability requires us to be aware of our alignment as we walk, sit, or stand. Maintaining excellent posture mandates us to eat healthy, maintain our yearly physicals, get the proper amount of rest and monitor our stress levels.
Our spiritual core stability must be maintained. If we want to keep a healthy spiritual core, we need to maintain a daily dose of faith supplements. Regardless of how we feel and what thoughts are running through our minds, we need to continue to pray without ceasing, study Scriptures, fellowship with like-minded faith walkers, and know the various faith destroyers. We must remember that our spiritual stability is anchored within our faith systems (Scriptures), faith practices (daily activities) and faith supporters (God, Holy Spirit, and Christians’ communities)
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:12).
