Within our family relationship, we have some conflicts of interests. As long as we agree to respect, accept, and disagree in a way that glorifies God that is ok. On the other hand, if our interactions display conduct disorder, then it is time to seek God for wisdom. What is conduct disorder?
It is when persistent, repetitive violations of our family rules and being disrespectful and disregarding the rights of others. We call this bad behavior. This is normally seen within children at the age of ten; yet, can be visual within antisocial adults.
Risk Factors for Conduct Disorder:
• Family history of antisocial personality disorders
• Substance abuse
• Child abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual)
• Learning disabilities that interfere with school success
Conduct Disorder Common in Families:
• Marital conflict
• Divorce
• Father Absence
• Authoritarian Parenting
“Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel” (Philippians 1:27 AMSB).
