Our lifestyle perceptions can be blinded by our personal perception if we based our vision on our emotional states, defeating thoughts, and negative luggage we inherited from family members, friends, co-workers, teachers, and media. Discernment through our personal provision requires us to see self and others through the eyes of Christ. We have heard ourselves and others say “I see what you mean”. As we think about our word choices, did we really catch their vision or did we realign their statement to comfortably fit within our self-made perception of their ideas?
I see mandates us to let go of our perceived motive about the person’s comment. In order to make sure that our words “I see” coincide with the person’s perception let us take the time to ask them then paraphrase what we heard. If it is still not the viewpoint of the person, let us step back, take a quick breath, call on the Holy Spirit to readjust and relinquish our thoughts, words, and ideas in order to attentively listen to the person. This mandate us to align our thoughts, visions, and listenings skills to totally captivate the whole image of the person’s viewpoint.
“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble in them” (Hosea 14:9).
