Change is never easy. As we face the challenge of changing unwanted behavior, we must first be patience with ourselves and remember our negative habits were not developed over night. We might overcome some instantly and others will take time.
A good way to keep track of our progress is through journaling. This way we can record our emotions, thoughts, and patterns of events. This is the time to be truly honest with ourselves.
We need to modify our mentality, which means take ownership of our actions. Dealing with underline pain might help us to see where this behavior originated from which could go back into our childhood, youth years, career choices and past and present relationship status. This can be painful; therefore, we might want to seek professional assistants.
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 9: 23-26 NIV).
