Identifying unhealthy thinking patterns are central to captivate what triggers our thought patterns.  One needs to know if the negative behavior is internal (thoughts of self) or external (voice tones, sounds, food choices, job descriptions, activities, smells, or images).

Following suggestive coping skills will assist us in overcoming self-destructive behavior:

Rely on one’s spiritual strength -praying, Scriptures reading and proclaiming, seeking spiritual guidance within your belief system.

Try new activities-engaging in activities that do not cause one pain (writing, painting, exercising, sports, camping, board games, gardening, and shopping within your budget).

Tolerate one’s emotions-do not ignore them. As one is dealing with mood swings, ask yourself why am I feeling this way?

Hope-stay encourage by reminding oneself that this too shall pass. Each day brings with it hope.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
