We believe and sometimes feel that if we are not interacting with a group of people, we are not socializing and we cannot be an effective Christian witness. This maybe a reason why we stay on Facebook, twitter, and Instagram sharing our limited knowledge, indirectly judging others, and giving others our two-cent advice. Now that we are not allowed to engage in a public social hour, we fill the need to chat by phone or through media.
What is social time to us individually? Yes, it is a time to enjoy interactions with others or not. According to definition it “the condition and measure of social and individual activity. In other words, social time is perceived in terms of what it is used for or filled with, or in terms of what happens in the time or over time”.
Why don’t we take this time of confinement to evaluate our social time? First, the time spent (previously) in the social world was it fun, enjoyable and productive. Did it leave others motivated and encouraged within an atmosphere of love and sprinkle in generosity? Did we engage in physical activities that were not circulating within a competitive and jealous environment, money splurging, and a guest appearance from show off sprit.
Now that we have some time, let us prepare to socialize with others in such a way that glorify God, provides an atmosphere of love, meekness, and compassion for others.
“Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:25).
