“It’s like a jungle sometimes
It makes me wonder how I keep from goin’ under
Broken glass everywhere
People pissin’ on the stairs, you know they just don’t care
I can’t take the smell, can’t take the noise
Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice
Rats in the front room, roaches in the back
Junkies in the alley with a baseball bat
I tried to get away but I couldn’t get far
‘Cause a man with a tow truck repossessed my car
Don’t push me ’cause I’m close to the edge
I’m trying not to lose my head
It’s like a jungle sometimes
It makes me wonder how I keep from goin’ under” Lyrics by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
We relate to feeling and maybe stating “Don’t push me ’cause I’m close to the edge I’m trying not to lose my head”. Why are we on this emotional roller coaster? We should not deny our feelings; however, we need to talk to God about them. This will help us get to the root of these feelings and deal with them versus ignoring them. It is Christlike to quote Scripture when needed and it is Christlike to admit, accept, and deal with our emotions.
How can we deal with our emotional drama?
Meditate on God’s word.
Take time out to deal with our emotional states.
Be self-honest about our emotions.
Take care of our physical health, which is connected to our emotional well-being.
Take the time to learn what God is teaching us through our emotions.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
