Dealing with stress requires us to focus on what is causing stress. We will not maintain a healthy lifestyle if we do not face, admit, and deal with situations that can cause discord within our wholistic balance, spirit, soul, and body. This is the time to face our fears of stress knowing that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. This means we can combat stress knowing that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
Instead of daydreaming about the negative stressors and running from the adversity called stress, we must address it. Encountering our stressors permits us to move forward free from the residue of unconfronted stress, which may lead to a feeling of bitterness, animosity, unforgiveness and resentments towards self or others.
The victim of daily stress leads us down the road to self-insecurity, faultfinding relationships, bad business deals, and seeking self-fulfillment through negative resources: drugs, alcohol, financial debt, promiscuous sex, unsuccessful careers, body weight issues, and chronic diseases.
When stressful thoughts enter our mind let us check a Christlike antidote in order to detour from restless mind state to quit mind.
This can be done as we recognize and escape the various restless mind strategies:
The Busy Bee-We try to avoid the stress by staying busy all the time. We call ourselves the “busy bee”. We find things to do, work overtime, becoming ongoing house cleaners, helping others before they ask, inventing projects. This is considered active defense since we are focusing on staying occupy through physical activities.
The Butterfly-We tend to treat our daily schedule like a butterfly. We just floating for assignment to assignment with no completion since we cannot stay focus. Simplicity is not incorporated within this lifestyle choice of avoidance of stress and causes us to be more stressful.
The Ostrich- we tend to ignore the problem by telling and trying to convince self and others that all is fine. We will avoid others, programs, events, and activities that will remind us about the stressful situation. This helps us to remain unaware and out of contact with the stress; however, it does not resolve the stress issues it just suppresses them.
The Worrier-we just worry, worry, and worry about the situation. We cannot sleep or eat due to our over concern about the situation. We cause others not to want to interact with us. We communicate with others from a panic and emotional state. This worrier syndrome can lead us down the road of depression, health issues, and entering isolation zone.
The Rationalizer- Explore the stressor away by claiming it to be something else or less serious; yet, it is always the major topic of discussion. Focus point is we have the solution for the stressor so we can improvise. We use this as strategies to redirect the concerns of others in relation to the stressors.

As we ponder over which technique we used to avoid stress, let us realize that the stressor can go away upon recognition and yielding it to God through prayer and acceptance of His solution.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).
