Throughout our conversations, ownership of the situations rotates from the talkers to the listeners. In the conversation the person who is sharing his or her concerns must take ownership of the problem being discussed. Taking ownership of the problems simply means that the talker is sharing from his or her issues, agenda or story. The sharer is simply communicated from his or her perceived perspective. As talkers, we should remember that:
We are sharing from a personal perspective.
Not get offended if the listeners do not agree with our perception.
Respect others’ insight.
Always be receptive of the Holy Spirit’s intervention.
“A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—and how good is a timely word!” (Proverbs 15:23 NIV).
