Vision can be seen as internal and external.
Internal visons-are seen with one’s mind eyes. This type of instructive vision is thought to be a dream. A good biblical illustration would be Daniel 7:1 (NIV) “In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream”. An example of night vision would be Job 4: 13-15 (NIV) “Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, Dread came upon me, and trembling, and made all my bones shake. Then a spirit passed by my face; The hair of my flesh bristled up”.
External visions- One experiences these visions within his or her awaken hours. The Bible references vision of how it relates to the open heaven experience. Isaiah 6: 1-3(NIV) “In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory”. Also, external visons can reveal “the realm of the future”. While awake, Daniel saw a future vision. Daniel 10:7 (NIV) “ I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves”.
