As we ponder over the word worthy, let us relate it to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. How does worthiness relate to our spending patterns? We have heard the saying, “this is the season to be jolly, falalalala”. If we are to be good steward over our finances, we need to prayerfully incorporate and stick to our holiday spending budget. Before we get caught up in the Black Friday or holiday sales pitch, let us make sure we, as Believer follow and obey the Scripture “then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him” (Mark 12:17). We must not forget to tithe, to pay our utility bills, health and auto insurances, and our house note. As we enter the holiday shopping spree, let us make sure the gifts we buy for others will glorify Christ, meet their needs or desire versus giving in the spirit of self-glorification. Every gift we give should represent Christ, glorify Christ, and be giving in love.
